A Place Where Creativity Meets Community

Tucked away in the heart of North Hobart, Wild Stitch Studio is part sewing school for both kids and adults, part community arts space, part secondhand fabric haven — and all heart. 313A Elizabeth Street, North Hobart. Tues-Sat 10am-5:00pm.

We’re big on creativity, inclusivity, and the magic that happens when people make things together. Our shelves are stacked with secondhand and deadstock fabrics (because we like being kind to the planet), and we stock locally made crafty bits and bobs that make you feel warm inside.

We run classes, host community projects, and support vulnerable folks through the healing power of making. Whether you’re stitching your first seam or your hundredth quilt, there’s a spot for you at the table.

Kids Fashion Design 2026

We’re now taking names for the 2026 waitlist for our kids’ fashion design course. If your child joined us in 2025, they’re already on the list—so you’re all sorted. If not, just send a quick email to hello@wildstitch.com.au and we’ll pop you on. Everyone on the list gets 48 hours of early access before enrolments open to the public.

Your Local Fabric Op Shop

We like to think of ourselves as the op shop of the fabric world — the place where old textiles get a second chance and offcuts are treated like treasure. We rescue the good bits (even the oddballs), bundle them up, and give them a new life looking all kinds of fabulous.

It’s sustainable, it’s affordable, and it’s a little bit magic — because every scrap sold helps us fund community classes, creative projects, and support for folks who need a soft place to land.

We don’t list most of these goodies online (they fly out the door too quickly!) — so the best way to see the magic is to pop into the shop, have a rummage, and let the fabric find you.

New Project Kits

It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die! Our new needle felting kits for kids are here—and honestly, they’re cute enough to make you faint (in a good way). Perfect for a little creative treat, or yep… I’m gonna say it… a Christmas present. What the heck—when did December sneak up on us like that?
